By using 750 handmade soaps as an alternative to the compulsory printed flyer, we were able to draw much attention to a lecture by conceptual artist Constant Dullaart at our university. Inspired by his work, which critically observes and manipulates our web behavior with offline interventions, the soap installation challenges the status role of the Internet in our daily lives. For three nights we produced at least 750 translucent soap objects with quotes and pictures of Dullaart. At the same time, one installation was showing the remaining soaps during the lecture evening. The soaps could be perceived as an enlarged screen or even as an alternate Instagram feed. The soaps were distributed over the baths of the Hamburg universities. Surprisingly, even years after this intervention, we find soaps when visiting private bathrooms that belong to colleagues.
